Q: How much does this service cost? A: The cost of a trip can be approximated but will vary from day to day depending on activities, lodging, food and the like. The base cost includes a per diem charge plus expenses.
Q: How is the per diem rate determined?
A: The per diem rate is determined by the service level required and complexity of the trip. It ranges from $500 to $900 per day.
Q: What factors affect the per diem rate?
A: Level of service required is the biggest factor. For instance, a level 1 client ($500/day) is very independent, does not require medications or any ambulatory or hygienic care and simply needs companionship to make his trip safe and enjoyable.
A level 5 client ($900/day) requires 24 hour care, is not an independent walker, requires medications, complete hygienic care including all bathroom events, and has significant ambulatory and/or communication issues.
Q: Who makes the travel arrangements? A: Know No Bounds will makes the travel arrangements for you. Following an interview, we make every effort to find the best available airfares and other accommodations. KNB always tries to do what is best for you. Sometimes this translates to the cheapest airfare possible, while other times it means getting a non-stop flight that might cost 10% more. Sometimes it means finding the most comfortable room with a handicap bathroom, while other times it means getting the closest bed at a Hotel 6 because the long day caught up to us.
Q: Does that mean that we wing it all the time?
A: No, the nature of the trip and the activities desired affect the amount of trip planning taken. For instance, a road trip around New England during foliage season might benefit from some flexibility, while an overseas foray would require advance bookings due to limited accommodation options. Q: Where do you travel? A: Anywhere in the world except destinations that the United States government has declared unsafe for United States citizens.
